OPMI business school takes pride in preparing students for positions in the business community. Therefore, it is expected that students will conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the highest business standards. Any student may be subject to suspension or expulsion for any conduct that may be detrimental to the school's reputation. The administration does not need to give further reason. Breaches of acceptable conduct or attitude, either in class or in the school environment, may result in suspension after one verbal warning; otherwise, dismissal can be effected after only one such incident for the following: Evidence of cheating Smoking in non-smoking areas Eating and drinking in school labs or classrooms Wearing inappropriate attire Using of lab facilities instead of attending scheduled classes. Abusing or defacing school property or property of other members of the school community. Behaving disruptively in the classroom: Frequent lateness Being in possession of non-relevant materials and reading those materials during classes Nonetheless, the following breaches of acceptable conduct are grounds for immediate dismissal from the school: Using physical, verbal abuse, profanity, or violence in any form. Engaging in harassment or assault of a sexual or non- sexual nature. Setting off the fire alarm without good cause. Being under the influence of alcohol while on the school premises. Using, selling, possessing, distributing drugs or other illicit substances
In compliance with the Drug Free Schools Act Amendments of 1989, OPMI Business School certifies that it has adopted and implemented a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use, and/or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees as part of the institution’s many activities. All applicants, students, and/or employees of OPMI Business School are advised that the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of drugs and/or alcohol on school property, the immediate vicinity, or as any part of the school’s activities is in complete violation of the institution’s standards of conduct. Unlawful possession, use, or distribution of drugs and/or alcohol is clearly and expressly prohibited. Any applicant, student, and employee unlawfully possessing, using, or distributing illicit drugs and/or alcohol on school property, or at any of its activities will be imposed with the strictest sanctions, up to, and including expulsion from the institution, termination of employment. Also, the local, State, and Federal regulatory authorities will be notified. Such sanctions will be consistent with local, State, and Federal law and may include referral for prosecution for violations of standards of conduct.
Any form of sexual harassment is considered to be a violation of OPMI business school policy and a violation of the federal law. It is described as unsolicited, non-reciprocal behavior such as unsolicited verbal comments and harassment; sexist remarks about a person's body or sexual activities; patting, pinching, or unnecessary touching; subtle pressure or demands for sexual favors accompanied by implied or overt threats concerning employment or student status; and physical assault. DRESS CODE At OPMI Business School we are very proud of our school and students. Our main objective is to assist the student in becoming employable and we prepare the student academically and professionally from the first day of classes. Therefore, we ask the students to dress in business attire. The SCANS report and other government-sponsored research support the concept that employers require the workforce to follow the conformity of the workplace to be hired and retained. | |
