ATTENDANCE: Special Conditions Excused Absences: The student is accountable for supplying verification for the following excusable absences: (1) personal illness or disabling injury*; (2) death in the family*; (3) family crisis*; or (4) late registration. The type of absence necessitates supervised make-up hours by the student. However, special consideration is given in regard to time allowed for make-up under excused absence conditions. Tardiness or Early Leave: Coming habitually late to class or leaving early is disruptive. The student will be marked late when arriving to class five or more minutes after the scheduled class starts time.
In case of prolonged illness, accident, death in the family, or other special conditions render attendance impossible, a student may apply for leave of absence as approved by the School Director/Academic Dean. No monetary charges or accumulated absences will be assessed to the student during the leave period. Leave of absence takes into effect on the date the leave is granted. The maximum period for a leave of absence is sixty (60) days. Nevertheless, a student with a medical condition may apply for an extension provided he/she submits a written recommendation from a physician for a leave longer than 60 days. A student may be granted only one leave of absence during the program of study and is required to return on the scheduled due date. Failure to return will result in dismissal. Upon return, the student must meet with the Academic Dean to find out the requirements needed to re-enter the program or course(s). These requirements vary depending on when the leave of absence occurred. | |
