Policy and Regulations

The U.S. Department of Justice and Immigration & Naturalization Service authorize OPMI Business School to accept and enroll F-1and m-1 nonimmigrant students.

International Students should contact the Director of Admissions or any of the Admissions Officers and request for the International Student Admission Information Packet which details requirements related to estimated living expenses and necessary credentials required by the Consular Officials in the country of origin.

Applications for Admission may be obtained by visiting the Admissions Office or contacting us at (212) 269-4000 / Fax: (212) 269-9070 / E-mail: info@opmi.org / website: www.opmi.org. Applicants are encouraged to complete and submit their applications well in advance of the term starting date, clearly indicating the desired program/course, session, and intended starting date. A non-refundable fee of $100.00 must be submitted with application for processing.

The admissions policies are implemented based on New York State laws and regulations of potential students who are interested in entering the Institution. The Admissions Department enrollments are practiced based on the students’ Ability to Benefit (ATB). High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or college degree documentation exempts an applicant to taking the ATB test for program or course entry.

However, students whose native language is not English have to take the ATB test prior to being admitted to any of the Computer Curriculums or Courses in order to ensure them benefiting from the program. Students wanting to enter English as a Second Language (ESL) classes must take an Oral Exam and take an ESL placement Test to determine student’s level of comprehension. The Admissions Director and all Admissions Representatives are licensed agents. They attend a workshop on Education Laws pertaining to private school agent responsibilities and obligations, which the Institution periodically conducts on the premises.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Complete an Intake form.

Potential applicants are screened and provided with information on all courses, schedules, miscellaneous fees, and start dates. This includes a review of the title, scope, and sequence of each program/course offered. In addition, eligibility for the program/course is assessed carefully.

Once students are given the needed information, they will be toured around the facilities.

Applicants must present appropriate documentation to meet eligibility of courses offered. If necessary documents are not provided, then the applicant must pass the approved ATB exam and compass test.

Upon completing all documents for enrollment, students review and discuss their financial procedures with an admissions representative, and are then taken to the Bursar’s Office to finalize payment arrangements.

LATE ADMISSION: Any student missing the start date may apply for late admission during the first week of class if the student agrees to participate in additional hours of instruction to make-up for the work missed.

The student will be permitted to complete and sign the enrollment agreement for the selected program of study only if there is a reasonable expectation of successful completion of the program/course based on the results of the comprehensive assessment process.

A non-refundable registration fee will be applied to the total cost of the training not to exceed 10% of tuition or $100.00. The registration fee is specific only to the program for which the applicant originally enrolls and may not be applied to another program.

READMISSION: A student who withdraws from school, was dismissed for other than unacceptable conduct or fails to meet minimum satisfactory academic progress may request readmission into the program/course of study for which originally enrolled or a different program/course of study.

A student desiring readmission, after a minimum of thirty (30) days, may complete an Application for Readmission and provide supporting documentation. The school's Administrative Committee will meet to review the request and will make a determination on the student's request in writing in fourteen (14) calendar days from its receipt. The student will be advised of the decision in writing, including any Administrative Committee stipulation regarding the student's readmission and continuation at the school.

Morning, afternoon and evening class sessions are available to students based on the schedule set for individual program/course. Students desiring to enroll in a program must be available for the selected session for the entire length of the program. The enrollment of any student whose work schedule or other commitments overlap the session hours will be rejected.
